Three Doctors, Two Rooms, One Schedule

Three Doctors, Two Rooms, One Schedule

A shared practice isn’t a hospital. It’s often just two or three consultation rooms, a waiting area, and sometimes a small space for quick procedures. Multiple practitioners rotate through the same rooms. The patient only sees their appointment. You see the risk of double bookings.

Cowork. isn’t medical software. It doesn’t manage patient records or electronic billing. It’s designed to keep your space running smoothly: who’s using which room, when, and at what rate if the room is rented by the hour.

What Happens On-Site

You have named or generic rooms—“Room 1,” “Ultrasound Booth”—and slots of thirty minutes or an hour. A partner has fixed days. A locum takes what’s left. An external midwife rents the space on Tuesday afternoons. The receptionist needs to know, first thing in the morning, who’s where—without checking three different WhatsApp threads.

Depending on the practice, the room may be included in the partnership or billed per session. In the latter case, the slot has a price. In the former, the schedule is enough: the room isn’t free, end of story.

What Used to Go Wrong

The shared spreadsheet. Or the Google Calendar no one updates. Or the message “I’m taking Room 2 tomorrow” sent too late. A room ends up double-booked. Another stays empty while a colleague is looking for a slot. No one meant for it to happen. The system just didn’t exist.

How It Works with Cowork.

You create the “Practice” space, then add rooms as resources. Each practitioner (or the receptionist) books a slot in the desired room. The booking process can stay internal—shared via a link with the team—or open to a locum who pays for their session online.

The venue’s hours, slot durations, and any applicable rates are set once. The back office shows the day’s schedule: room by room, without juggling colors in an Excel file. If multiple locations share the same structure (an annex, a second site), they stay under the same account, each with its own schedule.

To get started, select the Medical Practice profile. The on-screen labels refer to the practice and practitioners; the resources describe your rooms.

What Changes

The rule becomes clear: one room, one slot, one booking. Sessions are billed automatically when you enable payments. The receptionist is no longer the only living record of the practice. Practitioners see what’s available before promising a slot to a patient.
